let Shyam sells his good at 100 Rs.
Then , Ram sells his goods at 75% of Shyam’s selling price of goods.
i.e. 75 Rs.

Ram also sells his goods 25% dearer than Bram.
It means 75 = 125% of Bram’s selling price
75 = 125/100 * Bram’s selling price
Therefore, Bram’s goods selling price = 60 Rs.

Now, Ram = 75 Rs.
Shyam = 100 Rs.
and Bram = 60 Rs.

We can say that Bram’s goods are 40% cheaper than Shyam.

#2

invalid votes = 15% of total i.e 1500
so valid votes = x = 4500
Biku gets 65% of valid votes = 2925
remaining valid votes = 4500 – 2925 = 1575

#3

let marks obtained by Sushil = x and by Raesh = y
So marks obtained by Mohit = 1.2x = 0.9y
Given that x = 1080
so y = 1.2*1080 / 0.9 = 1440
percentage = 1440*100 / 2000 = 72

#4

its too easy

10000(1+10/100)(1-5/100)(1+20/100) = 12540

#5

let number of students = 100
25% absent => present 75

30% failed by 20=> score = 13 so total score = 30 * 13 = 390

10% passed with 5 grace marks=> score = 28 so total score = 10 * 28 = 280

Remaining 35% got 60 marks => Total score = 35 * 60 = 2100

Total mark = 2770

Average = 2770/75 = 36.93

#6

let income = x

savings = 0.8 * 0.85 * 0.70 * x = 9520

x = 20000

#7

Han’s salary = x

x + y = 10000
let both spends k rupees
so
x-k / y-k = 6/1

solve for x we get

x = (60000-5k) / 7

check all options

a) x = 6000
we get k = 3600

y = 4000

check x-k / y-k = 2400/400 = 6/1 correct

b) x = 5000

we get k = 5000

y = 5000

check x-k / y-k = 0/0 wrong

#8

let total voters = x

Votes casted for sonia = 0.9 * 4x/5 (because 10% absent)

so
216 = 0.9 * 4x/5

x = 300

#9

#10

let salary = x

x – 0.3x – 0.7 * 0.3 * x – 0.24 * x = 2500
x = 10000

#9
Students who passed ONLY physics = 80% of x – 325 = 0.8x – 325

Students who passed ONLY chemistry = 70% of x – 325 = 0.7x – 325

Students who passed both subjects = 325

Students who failed both subjects = 15% of x = 0.15x

0.8x – 325 + 0.7x – 325 + 325 + 0.15x = x

1.65x – x = 325

0.65x = 325

x = 500 students

6. Kay

let total students be 100
25% absent => present 75

30% failed by 20=> score = 13,
score = 30 * 13 = 390

10% passed with 5 grace marks=> score = 33(see last line of question),
score = 10 * 33 = 330

Remaining 35% secured 60 marks => score = 35 * 60 = 2100,

Total mark =390 + 330 + 2100 = 2820

Average = 2820/75 = 37.6
